I was switched from Northwest to Delta during the takeover a while back. I brought 101,000 frequent flyer miles with me that I was saving to take my wife to Hawaii (first class) -- 50,000 each for our 25th wedding anniversary. Lo and behold I find out that now I don't have enough miles to take her coach (I'm 29,000 miles short). I stopped flying for about 2 years (was able to get work within 200 miles from Detroit). I lost all of my status -- Platinum down to nothing. I'm back on the road now every week and flew once with Delta. Based on their new frequent flyer program I refuse to fly with them again. Their Low, Medium, High philosophy "to give flyers extra flexability" is an insult to everyones intelligence. I'm flying Southwest every week now and would rather pay more than fly Delta - ever again. It's pretty tough to lose a flyer based in Detroit, but Delta did it. « less

They blamed "air traffic" for the delay and gave me and my family a flight the next morning but no hotel to sleep despite I was travelling with 3 small children. They said it was not THEIR fault and they were not responsible for taking care of me beyond getting me out the next morning. What kind of an airline does this to human beings who have paid to have them meet their obligations??? I was dehumanized and left helpless at an airport and region of the US I knew nothing about! It disgusted me beyond anything I thought I could ever feel! « less

Do not fly Delta to Montreal, Canada!!! It's a curse! They have sooooo many mechanical problems to Montreal. I have experienced at least 3 flights to Montreal this year with Mechanical problems!!! You just end up wasting your day!

They treated my son terribly. He was an unaccompanied minor that flew with Delta and because of mechanical problems he spent the whole day connecting from one airport to another. Case in point: our flight from JFK to Kansas City was CANCELLED due to "weather". Which was interesting because their flights to St. Louis seemed to be taking off and landing with no problems whatsoever, and speaking to my family members on the phone it was clear that there wasn't a cloud in the sky over THE ENTIRE STATES OF KANSAS AND MISSOURI. So basically they get to lie to our faces and cancel flights just because they probably didn't fill the airplane. And guess when the next flight is? A WHOLE DAY LATER. Our connections? They don't care. Our hard-earned money that we have to dish out for overpriced NYC hotels? They don't care. A taxi voucher maybe to get TO the hotel? Don't even ask for it. These people are jerks and have no scruples. Liars. Bald faced liars. I am disgusted. How could they possibly get away with this? My "layover" in New York basically turned out as a $300 waste of time because of DELTA.... And apparently we weren't the only ones. The Delta terminal in JFK looks like a FEMA site, due to all the other people sleeping on the floors and hanging around in hallways thanks to all their other "cancelled" flights. Have you tried calling this pathetic excuse of an airline ..... even on the supposedly exclusive skymile number ? You get the infamous "due to extremely high volume of calls .. and some other BS .. try your call later" ... I booked a flight online which involves 4 legs, 2 with Delta, and 2 with KLM. One of the KLM legs keeps falling off my itinera... more »

My daughter recently flew from Argentina to Miami with a stop in Atlanta. The arrival was delayed for 1 1/2 hours. She missed her connection which caused her to miss a scheduled meeting in Miami at which point she decided to stay in Atlanta where she was to eventually travel. Her bags went to Miami. I called to see if her bags could be returned to Atlanta and we were told we would have to pay an adjusted fare of $1400.00. The next day I called Miami and the bag was physically located in Delta baggage claim. I asked if I could pay to have the baggage sent to Atlanta to be picked up at the airport. They told me NO that they luggage in question had to be picked up by the passenger in person in Miami. I then asked if her brother could come with proof of relationship to retrieve the bag as he plans to be in Miami next week. They refused to say yes or no and again said we would have to pay the adjusted fare of $1400.00 on top of the already over $1250.00 original ticket price or that my daughter would have to travel to Miami in person to retrieve her luggage. This to me is just TOTAL ARROGANCE AND CUSTOMER NO SERVICE!! On top of that the lady, whom I spoke to twice at Delta baggage claim in Miami at 305-870-6445 thought she had hung up the phone and I hear her in the background degrade me to a co-worker before she hangs up the phone. Needless to say, We will NEVER fly Delta again!!

I called the next day and spoke to an International supervisor, Joe in Philadelphia, who was very nice and after he personally called Miami he assured me the bag would be placed the next day on a plane back to Atlanta regardless of the circumstances. He suggested I call their 800-325-8224 Number the next afternoon to see if the bag had arrived. I did.
I was told the bag was still in Miami and that it would not be sent to Atlanta because my daughter had interrupted her flight in Atlanta. They would not tell me how long the
bag would be held in Miami or if a relative with correct documentation could pick it up. Apparently Joe was a good talker but got nothing done. DELTA SUCKS! « less

Just went to their JFK terminal. It's such an horrific place (terminal 3)and the most stressful place. They are bringing the travel experience to a very low level. When you go there, you first have to get by yourself your boarding pass, then you have to wait in line for 30 min to drop off your luggage to be told that it is too heavy, that since you did not buy the ticket with their American Express Card (that you have and for which you pay fees), you will have to go back to the end of the line and wait another 40 min. Try to complain and you will hear "sir, I won't take your luggage when you come back'

Frankly this is the most unprofessional and unfriendly experience I had in a very long time. You just end up jumping on a plane overstressed...

My advise, don't fly international or with luggage with those guys...

the customer service was very bad too. for 7 hr wait, i get a 6 dollar voucher to eat something. what the hell do i do with that??? also, there will be no compensation for important meeting i missed because of their misblunder. im thinking of suing the company, and am looking for people with similar expeerience who may want to do that. people need to unite to show that just because they operate on a lot of dosmestic flights, does not mean that they can just screw customer service. « less

A Delta foi a pior Cia Aerea que eu ja voei, perdi um embarque por incompetencia dos funcionarios que 20 minutos antes de fechar o check-in, nao me permitiram faze-lo, tive seriios trantornos com isso, custo com taxi e hotel por mais dois dias em NYC, estou entrando com recurso para ressarcir os custoa, Delta nunca mais.

I hate to say it, but after 20 years of flying Delta, I will never fly them again after my latest terrible encounter on May 8. If Delta cares at all about learning from its abysmal record, just fly Southwest. Southwest is the polar opposite. Wonderful customer service and reasonable airfares. What more can you ask? Thought I found two low price tickets, and spent an hour setting up a trip to Europe, picking seats, etc. Fare went through on one ticket only, and AFTER the first one was booked, 1 second later a message came up saying the second fare would be $230 dollars more. At that point I was stuck! Called Customer Service, and they were less than concerned. Asked why they don't give message screens sooner in the set-up process that the fare was no longer available, and even supervisor "Jasmine Brown" did not care. They say you can get a refund within 24 hours, but found out from Customer Service that a refund can take 2-4 WEEKS! I already hate Delta and have not flown yet. Hope they don't cancel the damn flight too. « less

Can I change my name online - NO. Can I change my American Experss Skymiles card and my Skymiles Account at the same time - NO. Can Delta work with Alaska for a trip using miles - NO. Can Delta charge me an INSANE amount of frequent flyer miles for a domestic flight - YES.

Got charged $190.00 for baggage for 3 bags: $25 per bag each way plus $90 excess weight on one. Changed flight for $150 fee, then they had mechanical problems, put us back on original flights and still kept $150 fee. They will not remove $150.00 change fee. In all we had paid $240.00 in fees, $150.00 of which was beyond unwarranted. We will alw... more »

Their flights are constantly either delayed or cancelled. Their check-in lines are easy to find, though, because they are the longest and slowest moving lines in any airport. I'm sorry their employees don't understand the "new system", no problem for me to stand in line for over an hour after a 1 hour drive in a smelly taxi to another airport.

Since they took over NW airlines they have made an absolute sham of the airline business. An email with a simple question took over a month to reply to and then with an incorrect answer. Service is dreadful. You'd think breeding with your relatives was an art at delta!!!!!!

I would like to share the details of our family trip to Mexico, just recently during the week of 3/12. It began with a delay of our flight #2017 from Newark. At first it was an hour, then two, and finally well over three hours before we left. This of course put us in after our scheduled departure of our connecting flight to Cancun. The delays were primarily caused by traffic in Atlanta, so I fully expected our connecting flight to be delayed as well leaving Atlanta, however we were told prior to leaving that it was not. How could that be? Every single flight into Atlanta was delayed for hours but our departing flight was not delayed?? (More on that later). When I inquired about the flight being held for connecting passengers, expecting to be told “yes, of course” because that was my experience in years past of air travel. However, to my disbelief, I was told “No, we do not hold flights for ANYONE.” Hold that thought, more on that later as well.
After finally getting underway, my wife asked one of the flight attendant’s if our family could be quickly de-boarded, as we were trying to make our connecting flight, which was the LAST ONE out to Mexico for the day… “sorry sweetie, everyone is in a hurry somewhere.” (She really appreciated being called “sweetie” by a male flight attendant.) We hoped to still have a slight chance of making our flight #537, but then had more delays on the tarmac and in the air, and delta.com still showing an “on-time” departure, 5:50 p.m. came and went, so we figured we had long missed the flight. Imagine our increased aggravation when once we finally landed and got into the gate area at 7:14 pm, to find that #537 at just departed at 7:11 pm! Which means that when we landed, our connecting flight was STILL ON THE GROUND! Are you telling me that our flight could not be held for us for just a few minutes? It had already been delayed for 1:21 (not that delta.com was updated to reflect that ), and you obviously knew there were people that were going to be stuck…… it couldn’t be held for a few more minutes??
After being given an updated itinerary/tickets with “INTERRUPTED TRAVEL” printed on them for a bizarre flight the next day from Atlanta=>Raleigh=>Cancun leaving at 9:50am, we were given “reduced” rate hotel vouchers for our unplanned stay in Atlanta… I miss my flight because of your decisions, and I have to pay for my hotel room, reduced rate regardless?!? I had already paid for a hotel for that night…. A very nice one in Mexico! So I was real happy to pay for another one in GA. Also, I had to pay for dinner for five, when again, I had dinner already paid for that night at the resort.
Next morning- we get to the airport early and check in. I found an earlier flight for us, #533, which was direct into Cancun and got us rebooked again. I double checked our luggage, was told “yes, it has been re-routed”, then headed for the gate. Guess what… another delay! But why? It was sunny at that point in Atlanta? After inquiring as to the reason, I was shocked to be told that our flight was being HELD FOR CONNECTING PASSENGERS!!! WHAT?!?!? Yes, our flight was being held for the very reason that we were specifically told the day before, never happens. Now I am incensed. Not that we were held for connecting passengers…, but for the fact that the same thing was not done for us. I have no problem losing a few minutes so others can make their flights, but I would expect the same consideration which we were not given!
Now, we finally get to Cancun and go to claim our luggage….. no luggage! Not only did it not get put on our flight, but our bags were put on two separate other flights. So I have to tell 4 women (wife, 3 teenage daughters) that we have no clothes indefinitely. Not knowing when they would arrive, we of course had to buy bathing suits at our resort for top dollar. I personally am in charge of the Engineering and Operations division of a program which we operate on behalf of (I cant say in public) in the U.S. We deal with numerous sub-vendors who can influence the services we provide by their own business practices and performance (much as the way that you are placing the blame on ATC in your response)... but, bottom line is, MY COMPANY is responsible for our customer's ultimate SATISFACTION, not the sub-vendor. I do everything thing in my power to assure that our customer's expectations are met, and if for some reason those expectations are disappointed, I do not say "oh well, sorry... better luck next time you deal with us". I FIX their problem and make them happy.

Is this too much for me to expect my when I am the customer?

If you are not able to make the decision that will show me that Delta is truly concerned about customer satisfaction, then please provide me a senior point of contact that will take my complaint seriously.

-Please let me share what was at the time a humorous ad hoc sign that another obviously disappointed customer in Atlanta "posted". We saw this immediately after coming off the plane there and finding that our flight had left. Apparently Delta has made it a habit of "disappointing" their customers on a regular basis. As I see that your Customer Care team (which is a complete misnomer title now that I think of it) has no intentions of caring for Delta's customers, I will take my case to your executive level... and I will find their contact information.

Simply "Recognizing" our frustration is not acceptable. Delta made a profit off of my trip. The expectation of flying with Delta, was that you would get us to our destination in an acceptable time frame. Some delays are expected and can be dealt with, but when I say ACCEPTABLE, I mean at least the same day of our scheduled arrival. I fly all the time and on many different carriers. Delta by far has the worst customer service. I receive better customer service at my local DMV office. They should change the name to Ghetto Jet because I feel like Im in the ghetto when I fly them. But hey... Unfortunately though, we cannot promise compensation." THIS IS ROBBERY" And they say all this with an apathetic and condescending tone. I HAVE NEVER FELT THIS VIOLATED IN ALL MY LIFE. I took a Continental flight and a similar thing happened. They treated me decent and compensated me.
