Expedia hate

During the volcanic cloud situation, ive been on hold for a total of 8hours at various times over the last 2 days when trying to reach customer services.

Yet if i choose the option to buy a ticket I am put through straight away-but they wont deal with my request to rearrange a flight-I insisted that I be put through to her manager, she tried 3 times & he wouldnt come to the phone after she asked him a 4th time to hear my complaint(she forgot to mute & i heared him say to her "you cant do your job-give me that & he put the phone down).
They only want to sell new flights & not rearrange cancelled flights as obviously they wont make any money out of that.
I will NEVER EVER use them again, Bastards!

As I speak ive been on hold for another 55 mins.

Flights cancelled due to volcanic ash. To change a flight or request a refund from expedia you have to get through on the phone to customer services. Some hope - I have tried several times over the last 9 days to get hold of them, twice for over an hour. Some hope - I have tried several times over the last 9 days to get hold of them, twice for over an hour. Now that the dust has settled (sorry) the airline is quickly reachable as are expedias sales people - how strange. So I googled "expedia and bastards" feeling sure I would find others who were having similar problems. And sure enough there were plenty. This is obviously a ploy designed to get rid of as many customers wanting refunds as possible.
I WILL NEVER USE expedia AGAIN and will always tell others booking anything not to. There is no excuse for this behaviour and any company that actually wants to help their customers in an abnormal situation like over the last week or so can and did. « less

I called them and they claimed that BritishAirway has not initiated the refund, so they went ahead and do so. Now it has been 16 weeks and after a dozen of phone called, they told me it would be another 25-30 days, yet again blaming the BA. Also their customer did not help, everytime they said someone would call me back and none happened... « less

My parents, who live in the United Kingdom, booked a package vacation (air and lodging) to Malta through Expedia. co. uk with a scheduled departure on April 20 from Manchester airport. My parents, who live in the United Kingdom, booked a package vacation (air and lodging) to Malta through Expedia. co. uk with a scheduled departure on April 20 from Manchester airport. Because of the volcanic eruption in Iceland the airport was closed and their departure flight was canceled. They contacted Expedia by email to notify them that they could not travel as planned.

Subsequently, they tried many times to contact Expedia by phone (at significant expense, since phone calls to the customer service line are charged at 10p per minute) but were not able to get through. Numerous emails to Expedia have not been responded to.

However, the following irrelevant emails have been received:
(i) an automated offer of a #50 discount on any package booked before the end of May - no way Expedia is getting any further business!
(ii) an automated email welcoming my mother back from her vacation and asking her to rate her stay at the hotel in Malta.
(iii) an email addressed to "Emma Childs" regarding her claim. This is not my mother's name or the name of anyone related to her or her travel!

I appreciate that the company is overwhelmed with the number of claims and queries, but clearly they are INCOMPETENT. Their website contains minimal and outdated information and if they have hired extra staff to handle their overload, it appears they have hired IDIOTS. They obviously don't have a plan to prioritize their efforts so as to deal with customers in a timely and relevant manner and their communications SUCK. Their customer service is actually worse than non-existent.

While they may be waiting to receive money back from the airline for the flight, they are holding money paid for a hotel stay that didn't occur and that they have not had to pay for. In this regard they may be fraudulent.

There is no way that my parents will EVER book travel through Expedia again. After their experience, neither will I. I know that we are not alone. I just hope that we don't have to take legal action.

I'm really disappointed with Expedia....had used them in the past with no real problems but the way they have handled the whole volcanic ash situation is a complete joke!!! I have been phoning constantly for the past two weeks at all times of the day and been hanging on for ages with no luck at all. This evening i hung on for another 15 minutes and then was cut off saying they are experiencing technical difficulties at the moment. I also emailed them and their new auto response now states that although they normally promise a response within 24 hours 'because of the volcanic ash' it will take them longer....i'm still waiting after 4 days. Useless!! I know it's pretty exceptional circumstances but no other company seems to be as bad!! There are plenty of out of work people out there who would be glad of some work....Expedia should recruit a few to answer their phones and reply to a few emails!! « less

They even charge you for itineraries that they have had an error in processing due to their inability to confirm a flight or rental car request so on your end the purchase is incomplete, but you know what they still take the money for it out of your account and don't return the funds within 24 hours which is in fact illegal. I find the web pages to be unclear and deceptive. In particular the flight insurance. I booked a flight and had to change it due to some unforeseen circumstances. I booked a flight and had to change it due to some unforeseen circumstances. Having tghe confidence I could go to Expedia and change the ticket without penalty, I was informed the only reason they would allow the ticket to be exchanged under the definitition of the program was a medical emergency or loss of employment.

If this is the case with this insurance, there should be a pop up message descibing the restictive nature of the policy and do I still want to secure the insurance.

I spent 2 hours on the phone with Expedia (and they have the nerve to call it customer service) who said they don't insure the flight, it is a separate company, called "Berkley" which is a part of Expedia. The finger pointing and the reference to the hyperlink explanation should have been a part of my travel planning process.

It is very unfortunate I trusted these people. In my opinion, there should be a class action lawsuit brought against them for deceptive advertising and misrepresentation in the general description of their products/services.

I could go into a long list of inconveniences and twisted stories, but I won't. I would like to know if anyone has been successful bringing legal action against Expedia.
