What you have there is a free-loader and a moocher. It has nothing to do with the guy's nationality. There are free-loaders and moochers in the United States who act and behave the same way in the same sneaky mentality as your dude.

Think about it your buying this guy lunch and giving him free rides all the time. Has he ever offered to do something for you in return? And if he's muttering crap underneath his breath then you need to kick him his butt to the curb. He's a bit too old to be leaning and mooching off people anyway. 35 year old can stand on his own feet and buy their own lunches.

I've meet people who were 20 years old and tried to do the same thing like your dude and their black, white, or hispanic. It's just people put on an act to see what they can get away with or what they can gain. It seems your guy is looking at you as a convenient servant and a sucker. Why spend his own money when he can get you to spend yours?

I'd boot him if I was you but don't blame entire nationalities for a bad experience with some dude.

but it is true how he described the guy. the japanese culture is EXACTLY like that. everyone is nice to your face but hates you on the inside. everyone is COMPLETELY FAKE, and anyone who doesn't know this take japanese people as being "modest and polite"...when in fact, they refuse to express their feelings but choose to get back at you in some backstabbing manner. this is extremely typical to the culture, and probably the reason why there are so many suicides- people have to express themselves to be happy, but japanese culture teaches you to keep your mouth shut and grow hatred instead.

Japanese are super stinggy people. Never believe what you see when you deal with them. They seem to be nice and polite, but that's only a cover as they are assholes even to each other. I tried as much as posible not to buy Japanese products/services as they don't like to reciprocate. They want you to buy their products/services but not really keen in reciprocating towards our products/services.
Service quality in Japan though are very high since they serve alot of assholes. Hence, people in the service industry work the extra miles to make their customers happy.
