Silverstripe hate

Documentation sucks. Error messages suck really bad: "Website could not respond to your request" tells me nothing and no errors in the logs. Using prototype on every page for the SilverStripeNavigator sucks because the $() clashes and its not clear for a newbie how to include a basic jquery plugin. Documentation sucks. Error messages suck really bad: "Website could not respond to your request" tells me nothing and no errors in the logs. Using prototype on every page for the SilverStripeNavigator sucks because the $() clashes and its not clear for a newbie how to include a basic jquery plugin. Have to scour forums for basic answers to gotchas like previously mentioned $() clash. Modules don't work with SS 2.4. Many moduels don't even have basic README/INSTALL files included. getFoo() defined in controller will be treated as a synonym for $Foo, so if your page object has a database field called Foo, ordinarily $Foo would be automagically available from your controller (and view), if you define a method: getFoo() in your controller, its going to overwrite this.

I have never had so much trouble deploying a site from my local machine to a server than using SS, if something is wrong it is so hard to find out what. Never had so much trouble achieving basic website functionality like: popup image gallery, jquery date popup on form field - this is basic shit that should take a few minutes, poor documentation and error feedback makes it half a day of banging head against screen for someone new to ss. « less

Shitty documentation, lack of support from the developers, minimal answers, incomplete code with indefinite implementation timelines, the list goes on and on ... silverstripe sucks!!
