Ive witnessed on the job in DC, the nail salons in Laurel, Md; Pikesville, Md, the Starbucks in Columbia Mall, and automotive stores. Either store clerks who actually do not want to lose their jobs ignore them, tell them they have to wait or a customer has to give them the "side-eye" or curse them out to make them acknowledge what civillized behavior is in public-respect for others. I am starting to believe they have no souls. Despite the rhetoric and shows on television, white women are passive aggressive, back handed compliment insult total strangers racist-rude. I have witnessed white men yelling at their gf's or wives correcting them or telling white women they're an embarassment. They then have the audacity to actually believe their animalistic behavior makes them better? Most males and females who transplant from New York (black ones) are phony, deceitful, manipulating selves from NY ghettoes-Brooklyn, Bronx, Harlem an merge their savage, dishonest, lying, rude socially barbaric ways with DC and Baltimore indecency. Maryland is becoming one blob of other state's garbage.

In general, Maryland is corrupted by these types, ghetto thugs, welfare baby mamas (both black and white-AA Co, Howard Co, Baltimore City, Prince George's Co, etc), loser men, drug addiction child molesters and white supremicists and corruption couple with high taxes and high unemployment. Most people here are not good. They do not do right out of morality, ethics or mutual respect. They may comply with law only out of fear of getting caught or going to jail. That's part of the problem. People keep making excuses for them when there are none. There are plenty of Blacks and other people of color who grow up in dire circumstances and turn out well adjusted. They choose ignorance and try to force strangers to accept it. Notice how they "straighten" up when whites are around. They know right from wrong and know exactly what they're doing. I hate to say this but I thought about the lynchings of the 1930's and beyond and know alot of innocent people died but wondered did it actually keep the bad blacks "in check." Training, integrating them into civil society, free education doesn't seem to help many of them.

Rude librarians, I gave up on dealing with the libraries in at least three counties. As far as facility, Howard County Central library is the best. The one off of broken land parkway (East County Branch) has some of the racist (2 white women; one with an 80's brown perm gone bad and a long square head) and rude. There is a black man with gray hair who is short who looks like an Uncle Tom Negro who is rude, will try to bump into you on purpose while walking with his head to the ground then says "scu' me." You can tell he hates his job, his life. He gossips with this bald Negro male who is there almost everyday gossiping about patrons. He's ugly, bald, and has bad manners and will try to be in your business. He always discusses what he got, what he's doing. Believe me I'm not trying to listen but you can tell he worships white men and they indulge his nonsense. Doesn't matter if you're at the computer, at the information desk or trying to read a newspaper. He's always around, loud, thinking he's impressing people. Those white people are smiling and laughing and probably thinking "We have a good nigger here." He's a moron, expert b.s. artist and that's sad when he's a total stranger and the epitomy of why a moral educated woman can't stand black men. The phoniest, most disgusting, ill-mannered Uncle Tom Negroes. I think most of these black people are from Baltimore. So far Howard County Central near the mall is much better in dealing with external customers and obviously has more resources.

@ Ixtapalapan...Maybe, although I am highly educated people assume Muslim women aren't. Part of the problem is that I walk and do things alone alot: library, groceries and to get gas do laundry. So I think it's easy to target women in general when they're by themselves, but a covered Muslim is fair game. Black "christian" men do not respect religion as most in this area are raised by single moms who had dads that bailed out and they were probably dragged to church. Black men are spoiled by single moms who treat their sons as 'li'l man and so they think any woman of color is an object who is obligated to appease their ignorance. While in graduate school I worked in courts of maryland in the poor cities and observed this first hand. It's disgusting. The other thing is I had to admit a while ago they constantly reinforce my fear of them. I see nothing good of most of them. All they do or talk about is "getting with someone", shining up their cars or sports.

White men open the doors for me, will move to the side (I'm humble about it) or sometimes even say ma'am. On the contrary, black men will literally let the door slam in my face, run me over in a lobby of an office or look at me like a piece of meat. So it's not all men, it's black Christian men, specifically.

By the way, I know other women of color, South Asian,and bi-racial Muslim women who also get harrassed by black men. I have concluded based on statistics and my observations that 98% are evil.

2) People need to sincerely want to connect with others of like mindedness to bring forth change. I noticed some people claim this but all they want is another movement or club to dominate and are not genuine.
3) People need to stand up for what is right. I have had plenty of white males stand up for me who were strangers when a black christian guy was harassing, cat calling or appeared to prepare to rob me. I think since whites are the majority that white males who are good guys should know non-whites appreciate it and we need more of you to stand up when you see a woman being approached.
4) Women need to take long hard looks at their hearts (as do men). Ask yourself how do I want to be treated? Would I want my daughter to have a stranger rolling their eyes at them, giving them the beat down intimidate stare?; would I want my mother to be ran over my cart?
5) People need to read and stop listening to EVERYTHING presented to them by the media. Read about other cultures, read about our own country's history, what change do you want to see?
6) Do I really see another human being as my counterpart or something that's "in my way"--traffic, line, promotion, potential mate? I noticed on the Discovery channels that animals worked together better alot more than humans!

Know that some people on all sides will not want to see change, they think that compromising, opening themselves to free thought will somehow make them lose whatever imaginary position of power they think they have. Certain people of the inner cities, racist whites in rural parts of the country, extremists who think they have the one and complete interpretation of religion and culture. You mentioned spider’s web, a web is a trap, some people are aware of the truth, know that it takes work to admit to oneself I am not where I should be and “I want better.” It is easier for them to stay in the same self-destructive familiarity as it is for poor white trailor park. But remember for those who do, especially non-whites they will run into a system that perpetuated a prior generation’s notion that no matter how hard you try society will put roadblocks to set you back so for some it’s the thought “why leave familiarity” only to go to a strange place where one deals with a different level of difficulty and may even be unhappy; such as institutional racism, discrimination in housing (there are statistics by the federal reserve) and unemployment. I guess it starts in small parts. I think one thing one has to deal with is to deal in truth-with people and the system itself.
It will be easier to try to make things better with people whom you have common interest with, from another state or lived or traveled abroad and are not rigid thinking their way has to be the right path of thinking.

p.s.: I went out with a white and asian friend in DC to a restaurant and the white DC transplants just stared at me as if i "didn't belong' in their company. Alot of racist students are coming to university in DC from the midwest and implanting their own prejudices to add to the corrupting nature of this area.

Anyway, the issues aren't just black and white it's also religion and economics. for example, a white person cannot reasonably approach a Muslim American (black or Latino American) who may be a 3rd generation Muslim or convert and assume because they are non-white they are nuanced to or share the common interests, habits or culture of black Christians. Especially when one is raised Muslim there are aspects of society a practicing Muslim would not participate in. But often a black Christian will approach an American Muslim (covered mind you) assuming this. Black Christians are extreme and go beyond rude and try to intimidate, mock and cat call Muslim women. Perhaps they think Muslim women aren't aware of their history though bound in stereotypes often so true about "baby's mamas" and likely having a criminal record and being a high school dropout. Black Christians in the inner city are ignorant that there are billions of Muslims in the world and most are sunni therefore MUSLIM AMERICANS are likely sunni/traditional Muslims. However because they listen to the "dude" on their street corner who claims to "get some knowledge" and want to "cipher" they think that is what an American Muslim is--they like to "cultify" things to make it into their own club. Using logic is muslim worldwide are sunni/traditional and most Muslims are NOT arab but south asian, african and westerners then rationally MOST American muslims are sunni/traditional. Most people in the U.S. do not travel nor read books about others, they make up their own facts about people and religion and worship their own desires because it is harder to step out of oneself.

The problem is finding people you can relate to to have a dialogue. I noticed that Marylanders are a VERY jealous people and when you add inner racism, economics, education it becomes nearly impossible. It's hard to find people I can relate to who are my age...when you do find others who are educated it's all a new competition..oh I graduated from grad school too...so then it's like "I went to this school" what school you went to? It becomes elite among the educated: ivy league vs. others vs. state schools--this is true for the rich in Towson area, Pikesville area, DC metro area...the parents failed in their lives so what their children achieved is their new bragging point which makes them arrogant, couple that with race older uneducated whites will assume and treat nonwhites as if they are all from the inner city..weird dynamics. So I think it is a limited number of people one may find to have the dialogue.

However, It is also difficult to open dialogue when your daily experience with certain people (black Christians) are negative and they manifest ignorance through assumptions and just try to "hit on you." I do notice that whites in certain age groups know more of traditional Islam (whether they agree with it or not) which is what the majority of Muslims in the U.S. practice because they have 1) studied abroad 2) went to University in the DC/metro area like Georgetown, UVA or College Park. So even if they studied the political history, they automatically learn the basic tenets and history. My thoughts are bouncing a little bit...

However, whites in Ellicott City (Howard County) are very racist. Pikesville (Baltimore County?)-years ago was pretty homogenous but ignorance infiltrated there though I think there are still some hasidic Jews there. Glen Burnie (Anne Arundel County) has alot of ignorance with poor whites and ghetto blacks who venture from Baltimore City. Prince George's County is full of ignorant blacks as it is infiltrated with the ignorant disenfranchised blacks from the poor parts of DC.They see Muslim they become passive aggressive and assume you are a foreigner.

I had to take a break as another poster appeared to emotionally steer the postings to a dark place of hatred and resentment.

There are several issues among "black" and "white" communities that do make it difficult to come together. Firstly, not all blacks are indeed African American. African American is a misnomer as it presumes darker Americans have some genetic connection to Africa. Many darker Americans are moreso Native American, dominican and historically mixed with West Indian, Polynesian, white and/or aboriginals in the western hemisphere but not necessarily have any direct African ties. Many who call themselves african-americans never traveled abroad, don't even like africans and if they were to visit would not belong. I have learned by having diverse friends that whites do discriminate against one another, just as "blacks" have something against people with darker skin v. lighter skin; longer hair vs. short hair; straight vs. kinky, or naturally wavy to straight v. assumption that you have a weave because blacks think among their own people cannot naturally grow their hair waist length or their automatically a bi-racial which is not true.

Among whites I've learned there is a huge issue between skinny and a "thick" woman. I have noticed that white obese people try to categorize themselves as "having curves" when "having curves among people of color is someone like : Beyonce, Mariah Carey or Jennifer Lopez. It does not mean morbidly obese as it appears to mean among white overweight people ('Big Sexy' and 'Glee' are examples.) I do notice white women also compete between brunette and blonde, this generally has no culturally significance for nonwhites but apparently blondes are considered more beautiful (as told to me by whites).Earlier one of the posters mention Christianity, since I am not and do not come from that mindset and practice another religion I will say that there are universal principles but the problem is no one genuinely practices them.

Secondly @User-512v6i although you may not intend to or maybe because of your age your post about "assimilating into white culture" being the way out gives the impression of a condescending; guardian-ward relationship with people of color or other nonwhite counterparts. This is especially true with white women in Maryland who act as though everyone should emulate them because they are the most widely reflected woman in television series, cosmetic advertisements and billboards. Your reads as though whites have the only historical right to claim American culture and nonwhites should imitate whites to get ahead. Throughout the decades of change we witnessed the cross-pollination of food, dance and even theatre. American culture is not white culture which it is still sad to see 'blacks" who grew up in the ghettoes believe that proper English is being white. The usage of “All-American” can also be racially derogatory as if to be all American is to be Caucasian. It is the language of the country that one's ancestor's helped to build, no matter how ugly and unsavory the history is. Throughout America we see parallels of poverty with trailor park v. ghetto. Ignorance transcends color/race and so does economics. So it’s really poor people in general that need to assimilate into capitalistic culture by your assessment.

Those who do pursue the American dream are met with the same issues of the glass ceiling, presumptions that the ONLY reason they have advanced is because of affirmative action if the nonwhite is also of a different religion, presume to be a foreigner and the cause of the country's economic stability which the latter is the same rhetoric used to justify the Holocaust. On the contrary, most American Muslims which are comprised of blacks, south asians and arabs are more educated than their non-Muslim counterparts (historically documented by Pew Research). Black christian males are very insecure because most colleges are filled with women and among blacks who remain a ethnic minority there are still more black women in college than men. The black christian men thought mimicking a rap video would get them somewhere with that demo, if not they'll knock up some unsuspecting, loyal to a bum, working two jobs black christian woman who thinks that all she deserves. Meanwhile he's getting incarcerating, living off his "girl" or asking for handouts from his mom. Just fyi, I am not white and I am not a Chris...

Just fyi, I am not white and I am not a Christian. I am considered to be on the lighter side. However, I will say that dark skinned blacks, especially Christians have a chip on their shoulder. I don't consider myself light, when I think of light I think of Mariah Carey or something, but I'm definitely not chocolate. Anyway, sometimes the lighter caramels, almost white looking blacks don't like the dark-skinned ones because the latter project their insecurity on others than attack them. I had a darker-skinned SIBLING state "you think dark-skinned people are sloppy and dirty." I asked her where she heard that from, she stated "a little bird told me." I never said that to her or anyone else family or otherwise. Mind you she is darker than me, uneducated, welfare recipient, etc. all those stereotypes; yet she projected a lie onto me. I do think she is ghetto but that's because of her attitude and the way she carries herself.

There are some light skinned blacks who think they are better because they could "pass" but that old man is one from a messed up generation. You might want to check out "Our Kind of People" by Lawrence Otis Graham he writes about the historical black elite since slavery and how they inherited land from white illegitimate fathers, brown paper bag test, etc. That old man you referred to has a mental defect derived from systematic indoctrination.

Black Christian strangers tend to target me because I do my best to excel--whether I get all the things I want or not. MANY dark skinned christians are insecure because of the old adage the lighter the better so they think everyone who is lighter regardless of ethnicity dislikes them or out to get them and they do not make it easy for them to be like with that attitude/insecurity.

I know about the east coast history, but many black Christian women are not healed and try to use the projection of belief in their religion as a status of making them somehow better than others when they do not genuinely strive to practice it--which gives off a bad energy, reflected in their attitudes and the way they interact with total strangers; which makes people want to stay away from them which they project is related to something else. In general, people do not want to be around indecent people who are out to take advantage of them. I met many black christians, dark skinned or not who fit the above description. They have no sense of self and want to steal the peace of others. Black christian men do that by being threatening, predatory, rude, "I don't care", brass with strangers that THEY approach. Maryland is disgusting. I find most whites and blacks disgusting in this state but I will say that whites have defended me against black Christians 8 times out of 10 when a christian black male bum tries to approach me in the street, when a christian black woman tries to bully me in line or do something else rude, the ghetto "intimidating stare down." I simploy do not like black christians in general because this has been going on for years nearly everyday. When you deal with probability, and there is a high risk of danger or injury you avoid it. Stay away from black christians in general. With white prejudice it's insidious but if they are a cashier or something it's easier to complain with a supervisor and get it handled. Stay away from crazy old white women they'll try to talk to you about anything, and you do not know if it's a set up to distract you--yes lold Marylanders are shady too.

Most women have to hide their accomplishments from others and if you are black or other person of color, it's even worse because you work harder and people do not want to see you achieve. They internalize their personal failings onto you. Black christian women are just like black christian men "don't come at me like that" and like Chris Rock said "don't come to come with all that reading and writing and sh**" where earlier generations fought to learn to read modern christian blacks frown upon educatio

Not true I was raised in Maryoland but I lived and traveled abroad and hate it here. I notice each time I get along with someone either they are abroad from another country, or have another country's ancestry or relocated from another states.

People are racist (both black and white) uncultured, mean-spirited. Do not dress like you have a profession, speak proper English and have nice clothes black Christians will target you. I was in a Macy's in Howard County and a black "christian" woman came up talking to me out of no where. I was stooped down picking out something on a shelf. I ignored her and she got aggressive I went to the sales lady to pay for my item and she followed me to the register. She pretended to be interested in the same item I had. The sales lady even tried to help her before I got to the register. She stood in line to my right with nothing in her hand and kept looking at my card---can you spell robber! I have a serious problem with black Christians they are ignorant, phony, foul-mouth, nosy, overweight, aggressive, uncultured, deluded, they do not know nor act in accordance with their religion at all. Black Christian men harass Muslim women ALL the time while wearing their bling crosses. If you're a person of color you are fair game. I thought "if I was a covered white nun" you wouldn't dare bother me. They are full of hatred and hypocrisy and concern themselves with who is "running something" because they do not have authority over anything. They are savages. MD needs a billboard: "Life is not a rap video. In civilized society respect is required." It's so bad that a black professor of sociology did a documentary on how black men harass black women, women they perceive as "black" and other women of color. These women (high schoolers, highly educated, professionals, decent women) are being injured and literally dying because they refuse to be disrespected, ignoring "hey girl can I talk to you" and "Hi, how you doin'?" when everyone kinows that's an opener for can I sleep with you. It's like all black "Christian" men do is think with their penises, buy new sneakers and cars and NOTHING else. Disgusting. On the white side the hatred and/or racism can be more subtle--customer service, doing weird stuff while driving but laughing in their rearview, strange looks, etc. Maryland is a depository for evil and people who try to steal the dreams of decent people. Returning to this area re-taints you but everyone claims the jobs are in the DC metro area.. Most people have no manners and are worried about shining up their pick up truck, hooptie or lexus depending on which part of Maryland they live in.

You're right though I grew up in Maryland, I have traveleved and lived abroad and am highly educated. I am modest but won't wear alot of my expensive clothes. People target you if you LOOK like you have money, if you are not ghetto or complaining about something. These residents don't want to see you happy. Honestly, materially they have more than me ( a home, a lexus, etc, ) but they are void of any level of spiritually, It's liquor store, "black Christians", don't roll up to me like that when you go to a dunkin donuts (PG) and place an order with the cashier, racist whites, trailor whites, ghetto blacks, uncouthe "sassy" so-called educated, federal welfare/civil servant job, worship light skinned, insecure dark-skinned, that can't be all her hair (if you have naturally long hair and are not white) and I am the ultimate victim so everyone should pay attention to me. Yeahy, Jesus would be proud of this state (I am not a Christian but I know what a real Christian looks like and most of them do not live in Maryland). I attended a yoga class in a northern county and never returned because some racist hick woman kept disrupting the session and the petite teacher seemed obvlious or too scared to say any thing. Most of the people I get along with are sprinkled. I always get along with someone who is here abroad, moved from another state or may be from a different country--except some Europeans, some are snotty and are racist towards non-whites.

Everyone knows that people and enivronment influence an area. SOOOO if you have a bunch of ignorant blacks or racist hillbillies are concentrated in one neighborhood, you know blights, drugs, criminal violence and daily disrespect will become the social norm--making that area a place where decent folks would not dare want to live. When anyone USUALLY says they hate a state or an area it most likely means the people, lack of entertainment or like of economic progress, but most people complain about the people. An average decent human does not hate a state because of trees or animal life (unless there is a proliferation of disease or danger such as an increase of wildlife entering into residential areas). So that is what it has to do with "her hate for Maryland." Most people who like denizens of uncouthe, foul, nasty beasts (they came in all races), ghettoes, hypocritical Christians--especially black women--they are the worst, people with broken dreams who try to steal others', are just like them, that's why they like it. People who are dissimilar that will not like it and most likely hate it. Plain and simple.
