Let's put this into perspective. Montreal is a corrupt city. The heads of the North American Mafia are based in New York and Montreal. The streets are decrepit. The people are scruffy, not well groomed. I've been
visiting Montreal on and off for the last 16 years, mainly for the Formula 1. Here's my assessment.

Construction of the roads and highways have been going on since my first road trip there in '96. Since that time it seems as if nothing has progressed - nothing new and just not much has changed. Compare that with Toronto which saw maybe 20 new skyscrapers in the downtown areas and new developments all over the GTA.

The city seems to attract the lowest scum of immigration and many illegals from Brazil and all over South America seek refuge here, in a city where corruption invites corruption.

Driving in Montreal is a disaster. The highways are antiquated and well below Canadian and even European standards for that matter. I recently visited the Portuguese island of Sao Miguel in the Azores and to my delight, the trans-island highway system is far more modern and advanced than anything in Montreal.

On my many travels to see Formula 1, I've had the displeasure of dealing with some of the most arrogant and unfriendly people in the world - yes WORLD. I have visited many countries and while there's legend that Europe and America may have some of the world's most unpleasant people, this is not the truth in reality. Montreal wins the gold medal in that category, and by a landslide.

I recently travelled to Montreal to save the lives of 2 beautiful dogs. Montreal shelters are notorious for their long euthanasia lists. This is a twofold problem. Montreal shelters are inhumane and the people of Montreal are not much better. A good measure of the morality of a people is how they treat their animals. Montreal's is very low on that scale. After the murder of Wicca, the innocent dog that simply scratched a woman, by the Montreal city council, it's no wonder why Montreal lacks the class of a world-class city, in which it's qualities should always be civility, dignity, respect, kindness, a strong belief system centered around animal welfare and preservation of wildlife, and finally race and cultural indifference. Montreal fails on all categories.

If you want fine dinning in Centerville, Montreal rates fairly well, but I've still had better - much better in fact!
