What is tomorrow Obama or someone else decides to implement the sons of the soil theory that your Raj Thackeray is using? Did you think of what will happen to your American career then? The rest of the not so superior Indians feel the same way - we feel insecure. Some of us have had a shared childhood with the Marathi Manoos. When I was a child, I was accepted by everyone, including the Marathi Manoos. In fact, I was schooled in Bombay and even my grandparents are from Bombay (now Mumbai). I don't know why this sudden feeling of separation sprung up. I am a human being and I like to be accepted like everyone else. I don't like being put into separate compartments and treated accordingly. I am sure you feel the same way too when people in the US separate you - call you an "Indian American" instead of an "American" even if you have lived there for many years. There is one difference between the US and Maharashtra though. People in the US do not treat people in an inhuman manner unless something is wrong with a few of them. I have lived in Australia for nearly 2 years and I never felt any sort of discrimination. If I spoke in an Aussie accent, they used to treat me like an Aussie, but in Maharashtra, they still treat me like an outsider.

Are you proud that other humans are getting beaten up by the Marathi leader, who represents the Marathi Manoos? If you know where I come from and how I suffer psychologically on a daily basis due to lack of self-esteem caused by your "Marathi Manoos", who don't speak back to me in Marathi when I speak back to them in the same language, I consider it a lack of respect. In my point of view, being a legally domiciled resident of Maharashtra, I do not consider myself any different from a Maharashtrian - doesn't matter what language I speak. It hurts me too when people make fun of my language and hurt me badly or make fun of my community.

This is my perspective. I hope you don't judge me without living one day of my life or standing in my shoes.

The linguistic mutation did happen, but it is not the crux or focus of my research or that of the research of my professors. We are trying the historical linguistics angle. Everyone has their own angle and hook. Different theories come up everyday, new ideas get exchanged and possibilities increase. This does not mean that you are right or I am wrong. It just means that you have to keep an open mind instead of blocking yourself to newer possibilities.

I do not understand why you are harping on the correctness of the theory of Max Mueller - even his Indo-Aryan theory of invasion was completely disproved. Max Mueller's theory of classification of the languages has already been refuted and is highly questionable now. Many new theories are coming up. If your work matters, I would suggest you carry on with it. Each person has their own opinion and I respect it. It is not the linguistic mutation that impacts the words in the language, but something else and nobody is sure what it is really.

But as per the other linguists in India, there is a proto Indo-European and they are speculating that Tamil is exactly that. In fact, they all believe that Tamil forms the basis for Sanskrit and not the other way round. Another thing: Did you notice how great Leonardo Da Vinci, etc. were? They didn't have any light to illuminate their rooms or any technologies of an advanced nature in those days and they still became great. Swami Vivekananda is also similarly great and his theories might in fact be better than what Max Mueller had propounded - Tamil, Kannada, etc. are Dravidian and Marathi, Hindi, etc. are Indo-European languages that were derived from Sanskrit and that they have no link. I don't know what research your institute does. Tuppence research, I guess.

By the way, I am an MA in Linguistics itself and have been taught by one of the topmost linguists in Maharashtra and not an MA in Software engg. And Malayalam, which has commonality with Tamil, has several words common with Finnish; for example the words for basket (vatti in Malayalam, vatin in Finnish), flower (puu, puu), house (kudi, koti). Here then is a puzzle waiting to be resolved by the next generation Krishnamurti on the proto-Tamil/Malayalam language. That would be a fitting tribute to this outstanding scholar.

You say that some Indo-European languages have Devnagari script, but what you do not see is that the commonality amongst the words. No language is pure, Sanskriti. No language is. While it will always be debated constantly by narrow-minded people like yourselves, new truths will emerge and then you will see that you were wrong and also that your language is not superior in anyway.
