Even before the postal system decline stamps were cool. They could have anything from a simple design to a fantastic picture, and even the processing stamp over them is an added treasure - if it's clear enough you can see how old the stamp is, and the stamp itself will tell you how costs have changed over time and what stamps from different regions or even countries look like. Some people find simple pleasures in other things. Some find them in stamps. Now that snail mail isn't the only way to send information, finding a cool stamp can be harder and more special for those of us who enjoy collecting them.

The majority of current postings are clearly by adolescents who think normal things for their age group are something spectacular that everyone else cares about. There are too many "had-to-be-there" moments summed up as "epic" - who cares if you thought it was epic? Or if it was the BEST(blank)EVER!!!! The rest of us don't care at all. I don't have anything against Harry Potter and Batman and other pop culture mentions, but there is a site for Harry Potter lovers,and a site for those who lives are apparently awesome, and I personally think that the overwhelming high-school-aged submitters have forced other potentially good stories out. The earliest stories were actually average. But nobody really wants to be average; as soon as you get someone trying to one-up another it will inevitably spiral out of control, and now MLIA is just a site for kids to gang together and think they're special. It's like goths trying to make a statement - you're claiming to be individual and unique, but when you all do the same thing it loses all meaning. Maybe the site should be renamed as MLIAexceptforthisonetimeIhavetotellyouabout.
